"Premiere 6: Ready for Digital Video"
From Premiere's Splash Screen, you can see a FireWire cable and the beginning of a Web page address. A visual statement that Premiere 6 is ready for digital video and it's Web friendly.
Features
Familiar Adobe Environment. Premiere looks familiar if you've worked with other Adobe applications. The Premiere toolbox contains tools for selecting, editing, and viewing your clips.
The floating palettes contain additional features that help you modify, monitor, and enhance your work. You can hide and rearrange the palettes to organize your workspace. Listed in the Project window are all the clips that you import into your project from video, still image, sequence, and audio. Every project has only one Project window; if you close this window, you close the project. The Project window is customizable, so that you can sort and view your clips.
Capture Options. The capture interface allows you to control the camera directly. When you find points you want to capture, you simply punch-in and punch-out on the video to select.
Premiere allows you to use the television as a monitor. Connect your camera through your FireWire/IEEE 1394/iLink port to your iMac and then connect the analog A/V connectors to a television set. One of the simplest tasks is the way Premiere handles transitions. Just place the transition between the clips and it handles the transition automatically.
Premiere has a new feature allowing for the insertion of hyperlinks to your video. Audio Mixer allows you to adjust sound levels as the audio and video tracks are playing. DV (Digital Video) support is native in Adobe Premiere 6.0, providing built-in support for all types of DV devices. New tools, such as the professional-level Audio Mixer and the innovative Automate to Timeline feature, encourage creativity and experimentation.
Premiere 6.0 Closes the DV to Web Gap
Web export plug-ins for one-step Web output. The Save for Web method lets you output multiple files optimized for streaming or progressive download in popular formats. These formats include QuickTime, RealMedia, Windows Media, MPEG and others by exporting the timeline directly into a special version of Terran Interactive's Media Cleaner software.

Added Bonus
You receive Total Training for Adobe Premier 6 from "hyperCD." This get you started with professional 60 minutes of video introduction from www.TotalTraining.com. Learn how to capture and organize clips, monitor and timeline to basic editing. Note: You need to be online on the web to use the CD program.
Personal Observation
I checked with one of my friends on the military uses of Premiere 6.0. My friend is a Senior Master Sergeant in the reserves and a full-time audio-visual supervisor in Civil Engineering. She informed me that Premiere 6.0 runs well on Mac G4s to iMacs to iBooks. It's truly amazing: She can be in the field on a weekend training mission or in the office or at home and do her professional video editing. She especially likes the Automate to Timeline tool. This enables rapid development of all types of video training projects for her unit.
Final Notes
Premiere 6.0 is a simple and powerful video-editing tool. The Premiere DV program remains a great choice for any skill level. It is easy enough to use for anyone wanting to put a nice touch on his or her home-produced movies. Adobe Premiere 6.0 does everything a professional grade program like Final Cut can do, only it does it for a lot less money. The depth of features makes it a great tool for the video editor who needs to make a professional quality production work.
